Who are we?

Santa Claus - Garrath

The man behind the myth.

A husband, a father, a grandfather, a handyman, a tinkerer, and a kind human being. Garrath ticks all these boxes, and then some. Garrath spent his youth working as a chef in his own restaurants, meticulously building that Santa physique. In his later years and several children later, he has greyed. And whilst his children maintain it wasn’t their fault for the premature aging, the luscious dark beard turned white and the hair silver. Next was the purchase of some gorgeous gold rimmed glasses for reading. Seeing this transformation before our eyes and his genuine love for all things Christmas time, the comparisons to the big man became overwhelming.

So as a hobby, we bought a suit. A very expensive and fancy suit. A 15 piece suit to be exact. The boots, the coat, the vest, the cooling vest underneathe the vest to beat the Queensland heat! Each little piece taking Garrath from Father and Grandpa into Father Christmas.

Not a lot of people get to do a job that they love. We are very blessed to be able to bring joy to our community. This job is pretty special and we will never take these opportunities to see those little (or big) smiles for granted.

In his non Santa time, Garrath works in youth counselling and foster care so had a wealth of knowledge in supporting the littlest minds in all situations.

Santa’s Helper - Beth

You will assume the eldest daughter of Garrath was roped into this gig, but she volunteered! She comes from years of character hire experience when she was younger and a registered teach aide in recent years. She makes the wheels turn on this sleigh behind the scenes and feels very lucky to get to see and spend time with her papa bear (Santa). These are the kinds of memories that mean the most.

Beth specialises in supporting timid or neurodiverse children in what can feel like a very overwhelming situation in meeting Santa. Having an extra set of Christmas hands can take the stress off mum, a teacher or even a nurse is always incredibly helpful.

Douglas - Dougie - Doug

Needs no introduction. Just look at that face.

This 2 year old, 65kg St Bernard is the perfect size for old and young people alike. He’s kind, calm and fluffy. Maybe a little dribbly. Trained to be safe around crowds and noise. We believe the trainer said he is too lazy to be anything other then a giant cuddle bug. So this is the perfect gig for him.

This question is more important then you know!
